The Eventing Podcast was originally created by the EquiRatings team of Sam Watson & Diarm Byrne to try get some previews and reviews out there for the eventing world. Before long, we realised we needed a host and we found the sparkling, up-and-coming voice on eventing, Nicole Brown. We needed to make sure we could cover eventing on every continent so who better than Jenni Autry to come on board to cover the US angle.
In April 2017, Horseware came on board as a headline sponsor and a new era began. The Eventing Podcast is a light-hearted look at what the stats are telling us before and after the major international events.
We get a show up every week, a review, a preview and lots of rider interviews. We are on iTunes and also you can listen through the website.
Nicole Brown is a well-known controller and commentator at BE National events and in 2016, broke into international eventing commentary with the Event Rider Masters series and then with the BBC at Burghley. Nicole is a self-confessed eventing nerd and when not working, she sits in a corner working out top 10 percentages. She loves Upsilon.
Sam Watson is an Irish international event rider who has studied maths, statistics and databases for nearly 15 years. In December 2014, he founded EquiRatings with long-time friend Diarm Byrne and turned his love of numbers and horses into an award-winning business. When he is not on a horse, or deep in database coding, he practices impressions of riders.
Diarm Byrne is a former lawyer who joined forces with Sam in 2014 having spent years listening to him preparing the numbers on horses and riders. In 2015, he was shortlisted as ‘Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur’. When he isn’t running the EquiRatings offices, he is thinking about Liverpool. Or cats. Mainly talks about Mr Bass.
Jenni Autry is the managing editor of Eventing Nation. When she is not working on the latest eventing scoop at EN, or digging for EquiRatings or working with Phillip Dutton (busy lady), she is riding Mia, her OTTB mare. She loves her cats and Josh equally.
